Dark Matter - Blake Crouch

Dark Matter - Blake Crouch

Wow. What a rip-roaring ride through the multiverse!

Dark Matter follows Jason - a typical Everyman protagonist - when he is kidnapped on his way home by an unknown assailant, for unknown reasons, and wakes up in a scientific research facility surrounded by people who claim his life is not the one he knows. It is Jason’s struggle to return to his family, and his true home, that gives us our story.

Blake Crouch’s greatest achievement here, in my opinion, is introducing quantum theory into the story in a way that is still easy for a layman to follow. Despite the narrative device being one based in cutting edge science about consciousness and reality, the framing is simple and easy to understand. This is a huge feat and one that Crouch has pulled off with ease. Short, sharp sentences drive the plot forward, and there are twists and turns aplenty to keep the reader gripped.

If you’re looking for a fast-paced read that poses profound questions about the nature of reality, and the meaning of our lives, then this is the book for you. Pick it up immediately! ⁣⁣
